Our Story

Some gifts are forgotten by morning. Ours are kept for a lifetime.

It Started With a Family, a Passion, and a Laser Engraver

Where it all began — July 2013

Back in 2013, in a small studio in Southampton, Hampshire, we started Engraved Memories with a simple but stubborn belief: that a gift should mean something. Not just look nice in a box, but genuinely move the person who receives it.

Our focus from day one was photo engraving on metal — taking a cherished photograph and etching it permanently onto personalised keyrings, jewellery, and Zippo lighters. There is something quietly extraordinary about holding a metal keyring engraved with your grandmother's face, or a pendant bearing a photo of someone you have lost. That is what we set out to create, and it is still at the heart of everything we do.

Over time, as our customers asked for more, we expanded into printed gifts — bringing the same attention to detail and personalisation to a wider range of keepsakes. More ways to remember. More ways to give something that truly lasts.

We are a family-run business, and that has never changed. The same care, the same obsession with detail, the same pride in every piece — it is all still here. What has grown is our craft, our collection, and the thousands of customers who have trusted us with their most precious moments: engagements, anniversaries, new babies, and the quiet, tender grief of losing someone irreplaceable.

We do not take that trust lightly. Not for a single order.

Craftsmanship That You Can Actually Feel

There is a difference between a personalised gift and a truly crafted one. We are firmly in the second camp.

Every piece is engraved using professional-grade equipment and refined in-house by our team — not outsourced, not automated, not rushed. We combine precision laser and rotary engraving with careful hand-finishing, and before anything leaves our studio, it is checked against your exact personalisation request. If it is not right, it does not go out. Simple as that.

The result? A piece that looks as intentional as the thought behind it — whether that is a delicate fingerprint jewellery piece, a memorial keepsake, or a personalised keyring carried every single day.

Materials Worth Keeping

We are particular about what we use — because a memory deserves better than something that tarnishes after six months. Our pieces are crafted from:

  • Stainless Steel — Hypoallergenic, tarnish-resistant, and built for everyday wear. The quiet workhorse of our memorial gift collection.
  • Sterling Silver (925) — Brilliant, timeless, and unmistakably precious. For the pieces that deserve to be worn close to the heart — like our ashes & memorial jewellery.
  • 9ct Gold — Warm, luxurious, and hallmarked to the highest standard. For moments that call for something truly extraordinary.

Each material is chosen not just for how it looks on day one, but for how it holds up over years of being worn, treasured, and passed down.

How We Bring Your Vision to Life

Personalising with us is designed to feel effortless — because the emotional work of choosing the right gift is already enough.

  1. Find your piece. Browse our jewellery, keyrings, Zippo lighters, and memorial gifts — and let something catch your eye.
  2. Tell us what matters. A name, a date, a set of coordinates, a fingerprint, a photo, a line of handwriting. Whatever holds the meaning, we can engrave it.
  3. We get to work. Our team prepares the artwork, engraves your piece with care, and inspects it before it is packaged. Most orders are dispatched within 3–7 working days.
  4. It arrives ready to give. Beautifully presented, and exactly as you imagined.

Have something more complex in mind? A bespoke commission, a bulk order, or a very specific vision? Message James on WhatsApp — we typically reply within minutes. We love a challenge.

Keeping Your Piece Beautiful

A little care goes a long way. To keep your engraved piece looking its best:

  • Store it somewhere dry, away from direct sunlight and humidity.
  • Take it off before swimming, bathing, or spritzing perfume — your jewellery will thank you.
  • Clean gently with a soft, lint-free cloth. For sterling silver, a specialist polishing cloth will restore its original brilliance.

Our Promise — No Small Print Required

If something is not right, we will fix it. If we made an error, we will remake it. We back every piece with a 30-day return policy and a commitment to making sure you are genuinely happy — not just technically satisfied.

We ask one thing in return: check your personalisation details carefully before you order. Because once we have engraved your grandmother's name in sterling silver, it is yours — and we want it to be perfect.
